Russian because of my ancetry (1/2 of family and friends) and Mandarin because I was just curious in this country's culture and people, and there's no real alternative for getting closer in touch with both than learning the language. By chance a course was offered in the univ. of appl. sc. I attended for 2 years. That special univ. wasn't all that great, but the Chinese course was: extremely nice people, we're still close friends. I'm far from satisfied with my level of proficiency in both, but at the moment I'm too loaded with work and else stuff. When I start studying again there will be more spare time (and courses available as well) for improvement.
