Yesterday, 2009-06-25-Th, in the morning:
I welcome a new official stance towards international military invention warfare. To those who are affected directly from combat or are forced to follow the events from exile, it must feel similar to when the current President of the USA, Mr Obama, took office: cudos to General Stanley McChrystal and those behind the move for the "cultural 'Shift needed' in Afghan combat (BBC News)", and congrats to the Afghans who finally made them acknowledge. The significance can't be estimated high enough: It marks a turning point, away from the acceptance of 'collateral damage', hopefully this is adopted as general guideline for other conflict regions as well.
Though there remains a nagging tought in the back of my mind: What took you so long...?! Apparently, decades of international warfare and countless of injured and dead people, for which tragic is but a poor description. I'm happy over the change of policy, the return to what should have been a matter of course right from the beginning, the actual and ultimate goal of intervention: to protect.
Feel lighter, gonna run off a the few remaining dark thoughts today. Despite the rain. Or even because of it. I love running in the rain, in the damp air. Breathing is said to be harder under such conditions, but somehow the throat feels less dry. And for someone who rarely breaks a sweat - that becomes easier, too! ;D
In the evening: And look, the sun's already peeking through again. Cue "I can see clearly now the rain is gone"...
Today 2009-06-26-Fr, in the morning:
Now I know why it rained so hard yesterday and why I felt so gloomy. Farewell, Mr. Jackson. After a journey more intense than most, may your arrival in Neverland help you find the rest and happiness you were on the quest for so long. All the best for the kids, relatives and friends. |
