For starters, your information dump involves a Ms. Jillian Rosa Garcia of Apartment 1, 53 W 76th St, New York, NY 10023. Employed by an entertainment corporation known as FunFix. (Sometimes mis-spelled as FunFics, but they've got their tentacles into just about every type of media/entertainment you can imagine. Diversity in action as boon to corporate survival and all that...) Your first few seconds of research indicate nothing more than the fact that she lives on the Upper West Side (Manhattan), that she has apparently failed to turn up for work this week (somehow that was included in the dossier), and that apparently somebody with *some* kind of cred has started looking for her. Okay, maybe not a *LOT* of cred, but connections, for sure - this apparently started as a request from Blue Steel, coming down the pipe to you guys.
To Ace: The apple-cider smelling burst of fog when Mr. X teleported in is apparently a side-effect, and not the worst-smelling one. Your paranoia is grand, but you need to ask yourself a telling question: at your current "level" of expertise, why would anyone go to the trouble of killing you with a cloud of poison that they themselves were sitting in? And who would want to kill you just yet? You haven't been around the shadows long enough (yet) to make any real enemies. So relax a little, and things will work out. Just pay attention. Paying attention is good.
To Block: You didn't *feel* anything magical happen, but that's not altogether out of the ordinary. You know magic tends to work a lot like radio, especially where all the different frequencies are concerned. Maybe this guy X "works" on a different "frequency" than you are used to receiving. But if he can Teleport, then he's nearly a deity, because (check your books) there *IS* no Teleport spell that anybody has ever been aware of...

You guys run a quick precis on the name, but you only get that she's a naturalist of some sort, preferring green open fields to the concrete jungle, and that she enjoys her job at FunFix. Oh, and that she seems to have disappeared in the last week. Nobody on social media (FaceBook, FruitBat, that sort of thing) seems to know or have heard anything. Oddly enough, there is no police report with the NYPD on her either way.

Mr. X: You get a feeling that somewhere, nearby maybe, there are "interested parties" about. Not something you can put your finger on, more like a "Spidey Sense" tingling sort of thing. Not the royal straight flush you were initially hoping for, but not holding a pair while showing a queen, either. |
