Earlier today, I had to take my "kitten" Tsuki Hime (Sue-key He-may; "Shadow Princess" or "Moon Goddess" depending on the dialect) to the vet & put to sleep.
She was 7 Cat (~45 Human) years old, and had finally been unable to continue.
She had survived being attacked/mauled by a dog, hit by a car, and regularly chased around the house by my StepFather's dog (she loved the cats, never tried to hurt them, just liked to play with them).
But this afternoon, she collapsed in the hall, coughing up blood.
Mom & I took her to the Vet, and after much deliberation, soul searching, and tears, decided to send her to the Great Pet Playhouse In The Sky.
I feel bad, because she was such a part of my life, that it's like I've just put down a member of the family.
She began life as the runt of the litter, rescued (by me) from almost certain destruction by her own kith & kin, weaned her to health with hourly feedings from the bottle, started her on solid food (after she tried to bite off my finger!), and taught her to use the litter box (instead of mom's closet!).
She slept on my chest, nuzzled against my neck, or in the crook of my elbow for almost the first year of her life, and would sometimes come back to do so if she or I were feeling particularly low.
She liked to hide in places that you never thought a kitten could fit nor get to, and that always made for interesting & amusing moments.
Like trudging out at 3 A M to go potty, lifting the toilet lid, to find a kitten asleep in the bowl.
Or, because she decided that toilet paper was fun to maul & haul around the house, we kept it in a drawer instead of the holder.
So, after sitting on the toilet, "Going Number Two", open the drawer to get the TP, only to have her meworl at you for disturbing her fun as she finished turning the roll into pulp. =-)p
Or she'd slide between the cushion & the back of the couch, and once you'd sat down & gotten comfy, bite you on the butt "just to say hi!"
She was a hyper cat for the longest time, too, back when I had Draeco to keep her company & feed off her insanity.
They would chase each other around the house, up the lattice work wall, down the over-head lights, across the curtains, bounce about the Mantel, over the tv, off the phone, and back down the lattice, only to LEAP screaming into the big, comfy chair...
*and go to sleep*.
XD XD XD HAhahahaha...
Tsuki, you were my Friend, my Family, and a part of my heart & soul.
I'll miss you, Darling.
*Sniffle Wibble Smile*
