classics: all books by William Gibson.
Really, all of them. Haven't been disappointed so far.
The good point with classics is that you find them in libraries.
Neal Stephenson: Cryptonomicon. Not that far in the future, but still classifies as a Scifi thriller, I guess. Tome. Get the edition from Avon books, they made a nice effort designing books and layout. Google on "Cryptonomicon" gives the homepage and a nice list of reviews.

Frank Schätzing: The Swarm. Reads as thrilling as a movie. Scifi regarding ecological/biological science, not far in the future. Tome.
Adrian Berry: The Next Thousand Years. Member of the Royal Astronomical Society and Inter-planetarian Society, Berry wrote this book back in 1974, and some of his (partly collected) views seem more progressive than nowadays ideas.
Salman Rushdie: Grimus. Very bold to be called SciFi as the only reference could be different dimensions. Find out for yourself :)
More light novels: Shadowrun series, Earthwind series. When you just want to take your mind off things. |
