be a Good Avenue for a task. Our PHEV (Ford C-Max Energi 2013, so far at 65.5MPGE with nightly charging between a few road trips) will do downhill charging on a shifter button, and regen braking always (and notifies us of our braking efficiency, in energy returned; lightfoot encouraged).

Especially if a competition criterion is energy usage over the course. Or even as a safety issue; full throttle to skidding STOP NOW could be hazardous to spectators, not to mention the driver of the beast.
