I'm still alive over a decade later, so I can only conclude that YES I am doing it right.
I can walk, I can run if need be (I've never liked running), I still cycle when I get the time to do so, I go hiking/camping a couple times a year, I like going rafting, I can still touch my toes (I need to lose weight =( *sigh*), & the only real "Reasonable Accommodation" I need for my disability is an ergo chair to sit in, and a clean/quiet place to test my BSL / take my insulin.
I just had my last Diabetic Retinal Exam & my Rx had changed so LITTLE since the last time that there was no point in even bothering to write out a new Rx for new glasses.
It had changed less than .5 of a diopter & my MedIns won't even CONSIDER paying for new glasses if there hasn't been more than a full 1.0+ Diopter increase.
This is good news in a way.
Normally, uncontrolled Diabetes causes the vessels in your eyes to go completely screwy.
With my rate of change so UNchanging, I could, conceivably wear contact lenses if I so desired.
(I do, kinda sorta, but am not sure - the thought of jabbing my finger in my EYE kinda makes me nervous for some odd reason! =)P hehehehe)
Not that it matters, though, since my MedIns won't cover the cost of Contacts.
(Not at $1,500~$2K a pop they won't, and I can't say I blame them.)
I mean, unless the DMV is suspending my CDL because my freaking *cholesterol* is too high, I can't figure out WTF they're doing.
And if that IS the reason, I *WILL* be appearing on the news for having snapped & going on a killing spree.
