A challenge echoed from afar,
a battlefield between two Kings;
the trumpets blast and the horses rush,
a fight of might and men has begun!
The crash of a lance upon a shield,
a horse falls 'neath his rider
and he lands upon a sword;
the screams of agony as Death takes another!
The armies gone but for a few weary men,
the war almost over with; but a single man
still valiantly fights three
with a parry, a blow, a swift attack!
He thrusts, the Knight's moves quick, and kills;
now there's but two and his goal's in sight-
his banner flies high and, again,
another lays dead!
A CHARGE! A BATTLE YELL!
The Knight's heavy sword cleaves metal like butter;
with his sword-point at the enemy King's throat,
he declares the battle-
Check Mate. |
