Down the corridor, at the first intersection a CRACKK!Hisssssss... can be heard, along with almost a column of black smoke, just appearing there. Within the black smoke a familiar LARGE figure can be seen, emerging even as the smoke clears (rapidly) and you hear X ask "Hey, you know any good cabbies?"
To X's right Block appears through the disipating column of smoke, coughing lightly. "Cabby?" he asks blinking, "Why? You should see Ace's ride, man." Block does a double-take, noticing Lady S just around the corner.
Around the corner you hear the double 'CLICK' of safeties going off (or maybe coming on - the sound is quite similar) and after a few seconds a female voice answers "...You have got to be kidding me!" A brief pause, even as the rest of the team catches up, unsure of what to do next. she continues, "I’m afraid not. Their automobiles seem to spontaneously combust near me, and as much as I am enthused by your sudden presence...I don’t presume you might tell me if you were the cause of all the sudden raucous noise and redecoration of these hallways?"
Block suddenly adds, "Hullo! Need medical attention?"
Smiling, X offhandedly replies, "Well, *I* don't have anything to do with the current infestation. However, I might be doing something about the problem. To help out a Damsel in Distress. Last I saw, you made a pretty good damsel. Sure fooled the police."
At this point the Lady scoffs. “I somehow highly doubt your coming in to help any damsel, since as far as I'm aware you prefer to leave them high and dry” is her wry reply. She glances down at the dwarf standing next to/sort of behind the troll, and adds, "Familiar looking... ...where have I...?" and drops off, eyes widening in recognition. "Docwagon!" she gestures in Block's direction, "From the time at the cab!"
She turns to address the Grunyon, “I have yet to need any medical attention, your friend here may yet need it though.” She frowns, her gaze returning to look back at Mr. X.
Grunyon looks a little disappointed when Lady S says she is not in need of medical attention, and then his mind keys in on the implications of the conversation between those two. The realization begins to creep across his face, an outward sign of an inner revelation. The dwarf absent-mindedly rubs a scar left over from a knife wound he took the last time he stepped into the middle of a domestic, and then takes a half step back without even realizing he's doing it. His eyebrows raise as he glances around. "Boss," he says to Mr. X, "unless I'm seriously mistaken, there's still something _else_ down here we need to worry about..." He steps back and begins looking around in the otherwise quiet hallway, keeping a constant and alert vigil against -er- whatever it is that cleared this basement area with extreme prejudice. |
