Sure the plenum cable would kink if you looked at it funny, but the outer jacket was also "brittle" enough that a light score with a box cutter and you could pull it away without risk of nicking the conductors.

The Panduit stuff wasn't bad. The stuff that used the BIX or 110 insulation displacement punches, OTOH. They took a bit more effort.

I didn't much like terminating the cables with the plugs, but I eventually got good at it.
Then I stopped doing it for a decade or so.
Now I found RJ45 plugs which are open-ended and have guides so you can thread each wire individually through the connector (letting the excess wire hang out). Then the crimper trims off the excess. (Klein Tools Pass-Thru Data Plugs)
